Dr. Stubbs has over fifteen years of experience working with children, adolescents, individuals, couples and families. He completed his undergraduate degree in psychology, a masters degree in counseling, marriage and family therapy, and doctoral degrees in mental health. He is currently completing a post-doctoral degree in counseling psychology.
Dr. Stubbs utilizes a unique approach and perspective in his practice that is compassionate and engaging. He believes it is important to meet and see people where they are on their journey of healing and progression.
He has experience as an in-home counselor and therapist, working in both inpatient and outpatient settings while triaging with licensed psychologists and psychiatrists. He completed his internship at Parkridge Valley Psychiatric Hospital in Cleveland, Tennessee, as well as at Camelot Care Centers.
Dr. Stubbs takes an integrated approach, drawing on various therapeutic models based on the needs of his clients. These include Bowen Systems Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT).
He is a Certified Family Therapist, a Certified Trauma Professional, and is certified in Forensic Traumatology. He is also a John Maxwell Certified Coach, Speaker & Trainer. In addition, Dr. Stubbs is a Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 31 Family Mediator and conducts mediation sessions.
A lifelong learner, Dr. Stubbs is currently pursuing certification as a Certified Psychological Associate, which will enable him to conduct and score standardized, norm-referenced, individually administered, performance-based assessments (e.g., Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children, 5th ed.).
Dr. Stubbs enjoys teaching as an adjunct faculty member in psychology, counseling, and marriage and family therapy. Outside of his professional work, he values spending time with his family, cycling, and experiencing new cultures and environments.
