Michelle Bates is a licensed professional counselor and mental health service provider. She graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in Education from Harding University. She went on to earn her Master of Arts in Counseling from Harding School of Theology. Michelle completed her practicum at The Exchange Club Family Center in Memphis and her internship at Day Break Treatment Center in Germantown.

Michelle worked at Youth Villages Boys Center for Intensive Residential Treatment where she counseled 8 to 13 year old boys and their families with trauma, chronic stress, behavioral issues, ADHD and other mental health diagnoses. She then worked as a transitional living specialist at Youth Villages with young adults who have aged out of the foster care system, helping them build independent living skills.

Michelle has a heart for working with families, children, and teens with issues related to adoption and fostering. She has clinical experience in working with trauma, parenting issues, anxiety, anger issues, ADHD, school issues, self-harm and physical and verbal aggression. Michelle believes that the therapeutic relationship is crucial as an agent for change and likes to incorporate games, play, art and journaling to aid in the therapeutic process. She also believes in the power of prayer and the Lord’s ability to heal our brokenness and bring restoration to lives and relationships.

Michelle and her husband enjoy being involved in their local church and spending time with family, friends and their two dogs. Michelle enjoys cooking, running, reading and spending time outdoors.
