What is Therapy Like for Children?

Children don’t often share their emotions as an adult would in the therapy setting. Our therapists are trained to interact with your child in a way that meets their unique emotional needs.

Play therapy is used as a tool to help children express and work through their struggles. Play therapy creates a safe and empathetic atmosphere where children can express themselves, try new things, understand their emotions, and build self-esteem. Play therapy gives children an opportunity to explore and open up.

Depending on the child’s preferences, a variety of games, toys, sand, and art supplies are used in order to help the child to express their emotional concerns.

These concerns may include:

  • Assessing the background of your relationship and how you currently relate to each other.
  • Depression/sadness
  • Trauma
  • Parental divorce
  • ADHD
  • Behavioral struggles
  • School issues
  • Stress
  • Anger/aggression
  • Grief

HeartLife therapists have the experience to bring hope and relief to the heart of the child by utilizing a Christian foundation and perspective.

“The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. The righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to the rescue each time.”
