Book: All Dogs Have ADHD by Kathy Hoopmann

In today’s world of constant stimulation and technological advances, many children are being diagnosed with ADHD. But what does that mean? This book is here to tell you! ADHD is commonly associated with difficulties in school, high energy levels and the inability to remain focused on a task. However, ADHD is more than that. People with ADHD have differences in the prefrontal cortex of the brain, which affects executive functioning skills. These skills are necessary for everyday tasks, both inside and outside of school. This book walks through the different behaviors and thought processes common of “dogs” diagnosed with ADHD. It helps children understand that their brain simply works differently than a “normal” brain. Nothing beats the moment when a child finishes this book and says, “Wow, that dog is just like me!” This book is appropriate for children as young as 4, but also helps parents and adults diagnosed with ADHD figure out exactly what that means. It’s informative and very easy to digest the materials. Plus, who doesn’t love looking at cute puppies?
